TS3310 IBM Tape Library

The IBM tape library was the first tape library on the market. In fact, IBM invented the concept of magnetic tape storage and set the standard for the wide variety of tape libraries available today. Today, IBM tape libraries continue to lead the industry in innovation and reliability. The latest addition to the IBM tape library collection is the TS3310. This IBM tape library is designed specifically for growing companies who find themselves constantly strained for space with their current tape libraries.

The TS3310 IBM tape library is engineered to scale vertically and for expansion of additional LTO tape drive cartridges. The base system has 30 storage slots and 6 input/output slots (for storage of 36 total slots) and up to six LTO3 tape drives before expansion. The TS3310 will support either standard or WORM LTO cartridges.

What makes this IBM tape library different from other tape libraries is that it can be expanded with the E9U expansion unit which contains 92 LTO cartridge slots and room for as many as four LTO3 tape drives. The standard IBM tape library plus two E9U units has a total physical capacity of 169 terabytes, a great deal of room compared with most tape libraries on the market.

Additional benefits of the TS3310 IBM tape library include hot swap tape drives and power supplies, availability in a rack mounted, desktop, or desk side configuration, and remote web based management. Tape drive interface options are SCSI-U160, 4 Gbps fibre channel with a standard Ethernet network interface.
