G-Series for IBM OS/400
Professional Archival Storage
G-Series for IBM OS/400 UDO libraries have been certified by
IBM for operation in i5/OS and open system environments. Supported natively
within the IBM OS/400 and i5/OS operating systems, the G-Series for IBM OS/400
libraries appear as a standard storage device without the need for additional
library management software. These same libraries are also supported by IBM
through the Tivoli Storage Manager Interface, which provides data and resource
management for open system requirements.
The G-Series for IBM OS/400 libraries leverage the strengths of UDO technology
to offer long-term archival storage and are the most scalable, feature-rich
optical solutions available to iSeries and open system customers. Typical
applications include email archiving, record management, and IBM Content Manager
environments that demand secure archival storage for valuable business assets.
A full range of UDO based optical libraries is available through the combined
product lines of IBM and Plasmon. IBM's 3996 product family provides UDO
libraries with capacities from 1TB to 5TB. This is complemented by Plasmon's
G-Series for IBM OS/400 products that provide 5TB to over 19TB of total archive
capacity.
IBM 3996 Optical Libraries are available through Sunstar and are supported
natively by the V5R3 and V5R4 operating systems. Plasmon G-Series for IBM
OS/400 libraries with UDO technology are also supported in V5R3 with previous
generation MO configurations supported in V5R1 and V5R2.
