The Compaq SCSI Storage Expander II, an external
storage enclosure, supports Narrow, Fast-Wide and even Ultra2
interfaces. The SCSI Storage Expander II enables existing tape
drives to be moved from inside of the server to an external
enclosure -- freeing up the internal bay for new and enhanced
technologies. Support for the Compaq 35/70-GB DLT drive is
included in the Compaq SCSI Storage Expander.
External enclosure with enough flexibility
for all tape needs
Because the storage market continues to grow
year after year, customers continue to need additional tape
storage for archival and backup needs. As new technologies are
developed it is critical to maintain access to archived data
from previous tape drives. The Compaq SCSI Storage Expander II,
with the NSX repeater built in supports Narrow, Fast-Wide and
even Ultra2 interfaces, giving customers the capability to move
existing tape drives from inside the server to external, freeing
up the internal bay for new and enhanced technologies.
The SCSI Storage Expander II is available in
two configurations. A tabletop enclosure that supports two
one-half height tape devices or a rack mount enclosure that
allows for (4) one-half height or (2) full-height tape devices.
The tabletop enclosure is a small footprint enclosure which
comes complete with SCSI pass-through, SCSI cables and necessary
hardware for mounting up to two one-half height tape drives. The
rack mount enclosure is a 5u, 19" wide tray complete with cables
and hardware necessary to mount in any Compaq Rack.
For those opportunities when the DLT Array is
too large and a single DLT drive isn't big enough, the SCSI
Storage Expander II is ready to meet the challenge. Current tape
