| Higher
function and higher capacity solutions for iSeries and AS/400 servers |
| The IBM 7329 Model 308 Scalar
Linear Recording (SLR) 100 Tape Autoloader is a stand-alone SCSI-based
device that provides iSeries and AS/400 customers automated back up for
mission-critical data. The IBM 7329 Model 308 uses the same state-of-the-art
tape technology as used in internally mounted SLR100 drives, providing
interchangeability of media. Tape storage automation that eliminates
individual tape handling can improve reliability and lower overhead cost by
reducing the incidence of error. With it's new high performance SLR100 tape
drive and high technology robotics, the IBM 7329 Model 308 offers an
excellent tape storage solution for iSeries and AS/400 customers who use
existing QIC technology or who require higher performance automated tape
backup. This new autoloader, with a magazine capable of holding eight SLR100
data cartridges, provides up to 400 GB of uncompressed data (800 GB assuming
2:1 compression) and a transfer rate of 5 MB/sec native and 10 MB/sec with
2:1 compression. |
| |
|
|
 |
| Excellent
investment protection |
| The SLR100 Autoloader is
designed to be read-and -write-compatible with current MLR3 QIC technology,
and read-only compatible with three previous QIC tape generations used on
the AS/400, helping to protect customer tape technology and provide
continued data availability. The IBM 7329 Model 308 provides an excellent
migration and interchange path from current generations of QIC tape drives.
The IBM 7329 autoloader also offers selectable drive cleaning. A cleaning
cartridge stored in the magazine is automatically moved to the tape drive
when cleaning is required. |
| |
|
|
 |
| Operational
modes |
| The IBM 7329 autoloader is
designed to operate in either random or sequential mode depending on user
preference. In random mode a tape cartridge may be selected from any slot in
the magazine and loaded into the tape drive. In sequential mode tapes
automatically fed into the tape drive beginning with the first magazine
slot. |
